Preparing for the PAT: How UniAdmissions can help you

The PAT course will help you tackle the parts you find daunting

A good understanding of Physics is key to performing well in the PAT test. As the start of the day, you will have a quick refresher on fundamental topics in physics that are commonly tested in the PAT such as Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Waves and Optics. You will do rapid drills on each of these categories before moving onto do PAT style questions to consolidate your learning. You will get given a comprehensive list of every equation that you need to know for the PAT which will become second nature to you by the end of the day (you’ll have a lot of questions!).

The latter half of the session focuses on further score-boosting-strategies as well as finishing up with a list of core concepts and principles that you must know for the PAT physics section. Finally, you can consolidate your knowledge by working through additional PAT Physics questions with your tutor.

Even good students struggle with PAT Maths as it forces them to work under extreme time pressure which results in silly mistakes (compounded by not finishing the paper). As the start of the maths part of the PAT course, we go through they key themes in PAT maths like Algebra, Calculus, and Elementary Mathematics to make sure everyone is on the same level. We then focus on tricky questions and use them as examples to show how most maths questions have a ‘short-cut’ built into them to allow you to save time.

The latter half of the session focuses on further time-saving techniques as well as finishing up with a list of core equations and identities that you must know for the PAT maths section. Finally, there is a chance to put what you’ve learned into practice and consolidate your learning by reviewing additional PAT questions.
